The National Innovation Campaign, Inové Moris

The National Innovation Campaign, Inové Moris, aims to rekindle the innovation spirit amongst the Mauritian population and make the public aware of the opportunities made available by the MRIC along with other partner organisations to facilitate their path on the innovation journey. This campaign has targeted all citizens of the Republic of Mauritius evolving in both formal and informal sectors. It is wished that all economic segments including the non-traditional and emerging ones are reached by this campaign. 

 

The rationales for the campaign are multifold, but more specifically, intended to address the slow economic recovery situation that in the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemics, is being faced by Mauritius, alike many other countries. 

 

The objectives of the National Innovation Campaign are to: 

· Rekindle the innovation spirit amongst the public; 

· Spark the generation of new ideas/inventions/ innovations amongst Mauritian; 

· Popularise the Research and Innovation schemes of the MRIC; 

· Catalyse an innovation culture in the younger generation; 

· Launch the thought process for the future of Mauritius through innovation; and 

· Showcase innovations sprouting from local initiatives.

 

The National Innovation campaign is divided into three major phases: 

• The 360-degree campaign approach for awareness and sensitization phase 

• Engagement phase 

• Involvement phase 

A website www.inovermoris.mu was also launched on this occasion.

 

 

 

​​On 11th March 2022, a trip was organised from Quatre Bornes to Port Louis on board a newly wrapped train to promote the MRIC’s National Innovation Campaign and in the context of the 2022 National Day celebrations. The Executive Director of the MRIC, Prof Theesan Bahorun, the Chairman of the MRIC, Dr Kaviraj Sukon, the Chief Executive Officer of Metro Express Limited (MEL), Dr Das Mootanah, MRIC staff and other personalities were also present on this occasion. 

These phases of the campaign have already been implemented using the slogan ‘Inove Moris, To lide konte.’ The National Innovation Campaign has culminated in the organisation of “Les Assises de la Recherche et de L’innovation” in Mauritius from 27th to 29th April 2022.

 

The National Innovation Campaign (Rodrigues segment) has as main aim to rekindle the innovation spirit amongst the Rodriguan population and make the public aware of the opportunities made available by the MRIC and other partner organisations to facilitate their path on the innovation journey. 

  

“Les Assises de la Recherche et de L’Innovation” in Rodrigues is scheduled for the 27th and 28th July 2022. Roadshows are planned to be initiated as from 20th July 2022. This will span over 6 days and will include the following: activation, buzz creation, showcasing of Rodriguan Innovation, Amene to Lide, raising awareness on Rod Inov, and roadshow games. There will be parallel buzz creation activities on going such as billboards, posters, radio adverts, radio contests and road announcements.
